The conversation above is two Discord servers and a Telegram group, and a Slack channel joins the same way. A post in any of them shows up in the others under the author's name, with where they posted from. No phone number involved, and nothing to pay.

Events that remind people

Most people have no easy reminder that follows them around. Create an event, or make one in Discord, and Crossline posts it in every connected channel and puts it in the next text to phones. Anyone who replies REMIND gets a text before it starts, and in a live channel everyone does. Members answer YES or NO from their phone. No app, no login, no calendar invite to accept.

A phone counts once for each community it follows, however many channels that community has. Registered 501(c) nonprofits and churches get 20% off Starter and above. Texts arrive as ordinary SMS, so the carrier's message and data rates may apply to the people who follow. US phones only for now. Any server can start now.

Questions

Can I follow a Discord channel by text message?

Yes. After a server admin connects the channel, you text JOIN to the Crossline number and its messages arrive as ordinary texts, by default in one digest text a day (an admin can switch a channel to live texts or a weekly text), including posts from any Telegram group, Slack channel, or other server bridged with it. Your replies post back in the channel and in those groups.

Will people see my phone number?

No. Your messages show under the name you choose. Server admins see a short code beside each name so they can tell members apart, never any digit of your number.

Who can see what I text?

Everyone who can read the connected Discord channel and any Telegram group, Slack channel, or other server bridged with it, plus the other people following it by text. Treat it like posting in the group. In an announcements channel, your replies go only to the organizers.

Do I need a Discord account?

No. Texting is the whole point. You can follow and reply without ever opening Discord. Telegram and Slack members need no Discord account either: their admin joins the conversation with a code that someone on Discord makes.

Can I connect a Telegram group or a Slack channel?

Yes. An admin of the connected Discord server makes a bridge code with /crossline bridge create. An admin of the Telegram group adds the Crossline bot, @crosslinesms_bot, to the group and runs /crossline join with that code. From then on messages posted in the group appear in the channel and reach the phones, and theirs appear in the group. Slack works the same way. A workspace admin installs Crossline at api.crossline.stream/slack/install, then runs /crossline bridge join with the code in the channel, after inviting @Crossline first if the channel is private. Starting from a Telegram group or Slack channel without Discord is coming.

Who pays for Crossline?

The community that runs the channel does. Linking chat channels is free, or $4 a month for Bridge with up to 15 channels. Texting starts with a free trial, then pay as you go at $2 a month plus 3 cents a text, or Starter at $19 a month for 20 phones. Following a channel by text costs nothing beyond your carrier's usual message and data rates.

Will a busy channel flood my phone?

No. By default a channel sends one digest text a day, and you can text WEEKLY for one a week, or EVENTS for event texts only. Crossline also caps how many texts one phone gets in an hour and holds messages during quiet hours.

Is my number shared or sold?

Never. Your mobile number and opt-in are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing. Read the Privacy Policy.
